Your firm's documents and matter files could fund growth without more billable hours.

Law firms, legal services companies and corporate legal departments hold years of contracts, briefs, memos, intake calls and matter records that AI developers need. We handle privilege and confidentiality review, de-identification, buyer vetting and contracts alongside your counsel. You keep ownership and approve every use.

What buyers want from legal companies.

Legal AI is a crowded, well funded category, and the public record covers only a sliver of legal work: court opinions and filed documents, not the contracts, memos and review decisions that make up most of practice. Developers building drafting, review and research tools need real transactional documents and expert judgment from working firms.

  1. Contracts, clause libraries and transaction documents

Executed agreements with negotiated redlines teach models how terms are actually drafted, varied and traded. Clause libraries with playbooks are worth more than templates alone.

    About documents and knowledge bases
  2. Review coding, issue tags and quality checks from closed matters

Responsiveness coding, issue tags and reviewer quality checks from past document reviews are expert judgment at scale, and that judgment is what legal AI tools are trying to learn.

    About expert annotations and workflows
  3. Client intake and consultation calls

Recorded intake calls show how people describe legal problems in plain language and how staff triage them, which legal voice and intake assistants need.

    About call recordings and transcripts
  4. Time entries, task codes and billing narratives

Years of narratives linked to task codes and outcomes teach models how legal work is scoped, staffed and priced, which legal operations tools need.

    About transactions and operations
  5. Administrative, vendor and non-privileged matter correspondence

Professional correspondence about scheduling, filings and vendors shows how legal work is coordinated. Privileged threads are excluded during review.

What drives the range

  • Negotiated contracts with redlines command a premium

  • Fifteen years across many practice areas

Compliance

Privilege and confidentiality review before anything is shared

Every matter set is screened for attorney-client privilege, work product and client confidentiality obligations before samples leave the firm, and excluded material is documented. Conflicts, engagement letter terms and state bar rules on client confidentiality are reviewed with your general counsel or ethics counsel. Client names, personal data and identifying facts are de-identified, and buyers are contractually barred from re-identification attempts.

Standards in play

  • Privilege and work product screening
  • Client confidentiality and engagement letter terms
  • State bar confidentiality rules
  • Conflicts review

FAQ

Legal questions

Read every question
Doesn't client confidentiality prohibit this?

Confidentiality rules cover information relating to the representation, so nothing moves without a matter-level review with your counsel, de-identification and, where required, client consent. Many firms start with form libraries, closed-matter documents already in the public record and internal knowledge materials, where the analysis is simpler.

What about privileged material and work product?

Privileged and work product material is excluded, not de-identified, and the screening method is written into the contract. We would rather license a smaller, clean set than put a privilege claim at risk.

Can we license only certain practice groups?

Yes. Scope is set by practice group, matter type, date range or document type, and non-exclusive terms are available. Some firms begin with one practice area to see how the process works.
