About these estimates

Every dollar figure on this site is an illustrative estimate, not an offer, appraisal or guarantee. Ranges come from publicly reported licensing deals, published per-record and per-hour benchmarks and our own valuation model. The real value of any dataset depends on its uniqueness, quality, legal rights, de-identification requirements and current buyer demand, and some datasets have no buyer at all. A written valuation from Knowledge Fuel after NDA and sample review replaces anything shown here.

The assumptions behind every number

  1. We start from a base range for your company size. A company with 25 to 99 employees starts around $20K to $150K; one with 500 to 1,999 employees starts around $150K to $1.2M.
  2. Years of records scale that range. Under 3 years roughly halves it; 10 years adds about a quarter; 15 or more years adds about half. Value flattens after 20 years.
  3. Industry demand adjusts by up to 30 percent. Healthcare, legal and financial services carry a premium because public data in those fields is thin. Retail and real estate sit slightly below average.
  4. Data types matter. Expert annotations, call recordings and imagery are in the highest demand; transactional and CRM records are more common and valued lower. Each additional type adds about 12 percent, up to 60 percent.
  5. Clean, labeled data is worth about a third more than typical data. Raw exports are worth about a quarter less, because the buyer or we must do the cleaning.
  6. Unclear rights cut the estimate in half until a rights review clears them. Datasets with some third-party content lose about 20 percent.
  7. Exclusive deals price higher (about 1.7 times) but close the door to other buyers. Non-exclusive licensing is the default because it can produce repeat revenue.
  8. If you enter a volume for your main data type, we compute a second estimate from per-unit benchmarks (for example $2 to $15 per hour of call audio, $0.05 to $0.50 per support ticket) and blend it with the size-based estimate.
  9. Everything is floored at $5K and capped at $25M, and the high end is always at least 2.5 times the low end, because real valuations have wide ranges until a sample has been reviewed.
